Babe, you are in such a rich vein... We're very proud and happy for you. Congratulations on it all and this green bowl and scabby quince - just the mix of domestic, earthy and refined I lurv. J xxx
Hi Julian This painting exemplifies what I love about your work, and that is your skillful deployment of light, colour, and contrast. This image also has a mysterious element. I am intrigued by what might be in the darkness behind the quince and bowl. You have the ability to eliminate what is unnecessary and focus on the essential. In doing this you remind us to take the opportunity to see what is really around us in our domestic lives and outside our homes.
I think I have a bowl just like that here in Seattle, USA. How universally connected your art makes us all feel. I swear, that fruit was on my table last night!
