Beautiful painting, with clear, limpid blue sky above, but full of mystery below.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ON SUNDAY JULIAN.

Congratulations. This is an exceptionally well executed piece in my mind. Beautiful balance of very loose abstract shapes and realistic rendering.

You have developed a very adept touch over the past years. I think the time constraints of the daily painting approach have really paid off for you in giving your work a very light alla prima look.

However, I'm keenly aware of the amount of work that has gone into developing those skills and into giving each painting the illusory air that it practically painted itself.

As always, looking forward to future works.

Cheers.

I love this banal tree? It has taken by miracle the shape of a deer, with its majestic antlers. And "he" tries desperately to approach the icy-cold water-source. Poor thirsty creature !
- "He" has never been able to succeed", say the peasants around, full of irony.
Nevertheless, the legend maintains that the noble being is able to succeed only when a moonless night falls over the golden plain. But nobody has never had the courage to confirm! Superstitions ?

Hi Julian , first let me say Happy Birthday celebrate a new year (but not to hard). The blue of the sky is gripping and the water is fantastic , excellent work!!

Beautiful work! the beauty lies in the free strokes and the subdued colour against the beautiful blue.
Wish you a wonderful year ahead. Happy Birthday,Julian.

Dear Julian, you have reached heights, way up there with this painting. This is really extraordinaire, the brook with its banks of wild grasses and reeds, reflecting the high, wintry blue of the sky.How mnay painters can dash of something as true and wild as this.Bravo!
P.S. Seems your b-day is on sunday,if so,again may I wish you a happy birthday, Julien.

I am moved by the relation of tangle and light, the haphazard and glowing in this painting--just like the opposites Aesthetic Realism describes as being in people. Happily, through such a painting we can see how opposites are resolved, can make for beauty, and composure. It is a pleasure.

Painter’s notes

A small stream that can carry a lot of water in the winter but is pretty dry in summer, just up stream from the old mill at St. Pierre de Vassols.
