Julian is in love...with Louis. It is shining through the paintings...soft and tender. I love the heirloom roses...a friend brought me a stunning bouquet of Gertrude Jekyll roses last week and I reveled in their sweetness the whole week.

This one has a very impressionistic style to it yet the dark background is more in the realistic style. A great fusion. It shimmers.

Manet would love these roses as well as Fantin Latour. The clear simple vase, strong lighting, dark background reminds me of Manet's last flower paintings. Very lovely.
