What is the 'Auction for mobile'? I clicked on it and didn't get it.

But can taste those lovely cherries!

"Under the magnifying glass".
The reflection into the third cherry from the left is extraordinary! It seems the painter is in action. We can even see the vertical stalks in a triangle! It reminds me of a similar staging in this Rembrandt's painting, but the crucial difference is that here the latter would be a mirror image into a small fruit!

The leaf on the right is a perfect touch; its serrated leaves contrast with the smooth texture of the cherries that are 'lit' so well.

JULIAN:
YOUR STILL-LIFE PAINTINGS
OF FRUITS AND VEGGIES ARE
SO BEAUTIFULLY PAINTED AND
THOUGHTFULLY ARRANGED. I ALWAYS
LOOK FORWARD
TO YOUR POSTCARDS.

Painter’s notes

These are from a nearby orchard where the cherries are often not picked—we leave it till late in the season to make sure by which time they are very ripe and very tasty
