Tomatoes, Basil and Red Wine

I love the imperfections of the tomato - it evokes so much - like the imperfections of life - and the knife cutting in and the juices oozing. I wish I was sitting around your lunch table this afternoon. Hope it's not as hot as it is in drought ridden California. We're all waiting for brush fires this year.

What a luscious tomato! I agree with Tina J about those imperfections. This is a gorgeous painting, Julian. And, yes, also being a Californian, it is so hot here and dry, I can hardly stand it. Since today is the 4th of July, I am afraid for brush fires, too. Be thankful that you are in France!
