A path in the shade like a sky full of luminous clouds through a whirling vegetal vault leads us to a mesmerising waterfall of gold coins! I imagine Gustav Klimt behind the vault painting his dear Danae flooded with golden raindrops...
Dear Julian, this is wonderful! Dappled shade in soft apricot, lavender and rose, scented with rosemary, thyme, oregano... a magic realm!
Please paint the herbs!
Hello Julian,
This is the typical "light at the end of the tunnel" composition. I love both versions. Composition is one of the hardest things to teach my students in San Francisco. I think if you are a good photographer, you see these opportunities to paint.
I recommend your website to all my students. One student bought me one of your paintings as a present and it was the same type of composition.
I love all your work and will someday visit you, as I love the St. Remy area.
My favorite so far was the lone whisky glass on the shelf. Great painting!

A Mystery Path
Even more perfect than the first. Perfect example of a beautifully observed simple scene yielding mystery. Miss all of you!

Probably because no one sees it with your eyes. Monet might have.
