In my opinion, flowers are among the hardest of subjects to paint convincingly. You nailed it Julian, in this humble little composition with the bravura passage of purple paint. Congrats to the owner of this one (jealous much).

It must have been some comfort to see spring unfolding all around you back in Provence.
The glowing petals in a divine array of purples next to the cool, greyish white of the enamel is so beautifully painted. Thank you.

What an enigmatic painting. The rich colours really sing and I love the rich purple tones and the corner positioning of the jug.

The irises are truly beautiful and remind me fondly of Provence this time of year.

I am so jealous as I live in Nova Scotia and I have shovelled snow off the deck TWICE today!
