Wonderful return to work. It was good to see you at your father's funeral. And Louis, of course.

In my opinion, flowers are among the hardest of subjects to paint convincingly. You nailed it Julian, in this humble little composition with the bravura passage of purple paint. Congrats to the owner of this one (jealous much).

Julian,

This is beautiful! I can almost smell the irises.

Happy Spring to you and your family!

Now that's a beautiful painting! Your flowers are blooming earlier than ours, Julian.

Dear Julian, what a lovely surprise!
It must have been some comfort to see spring unfolding all around you back in Provence.
The glowing petals in a divine array of purples next to the cool, greyish white of the enamel is so beautifully painted. Thank you.
Anna.

The irises are truly beautiful and remind me fondly of Provence this time of year.

I am so jealous as I live in Nova Scotia and I have shovelled snow off the deck TWICE today!

Painter’s notes

Back home to find the cherry trees starting to blossom and banks of roadside irises
