is that a window refected in the skin of the aubergine on the left??? Lovely!
- Why are you so angry about me? said the female aubergine on the right. - Be-cause you haven't washed the dishes, dear Madame! - You-are a real macho, Mister! This is too much, I leave to another place!" The male aubergine on the left, dumbstruck, all of a sudden aged overnight! Unfit for human consumption, definitely!!!
I just wanted to say that I rarely subscribe to blogs. I'll follow, but I just hate to get a lot of emails. THIS is the exception!! Every one is SO exquisite I knew I didn't want to miss a single one. So well done! You should be very proud!!! GORGEOUS!
So simple, so beautiful Julian.
Love the shadows.
Dear Julian, a swoon worthy arrangement! So elegant, such natural grace. Nobody paints glossy darks like you. What an incredible depth in the high lights, within there is an interior, with a light source, a window ,letting in more space and light. Van Eyckian!! Anna. P.S. I sense your on the beginnings of a roll!?
You help us to see and feel with your paintings, Julian. I love the warm shadows on the ground under the aubergines. (I always enjoy Alain's comments and interpretations, too.)
Thank you, dear Evelyn Mahrt. Each time I take the high-speed train and look at the landscape by the window of the train, close to Avignon, Aix en Provence and see the Ventoux mountain, I say to my wife:"Look Corinne, look, this is the landscapes of Julian, Ruth and Louis! He is perhaps painting somewhere over there now.I think at Julian Merrow Smith and not...Cezanne! And I say some day we'll go and see them. But I feel so cowed (really). Best regards
