I love the atmosphere you get in these scenes - in a second I'm transported to your very place in time and space - magic!
The extreme contrast of tones between the foliage and the road is the principal interest of this painting. The opposition "dark-light" adds here a dramatic sense to the scene emphasizing on the relative fragility of the young vineyard. The necessary mid tones are sky, mountains and ground under the vines, laid out in three vertical rows. At last, the old vines just juxtaposed to the path emphasizes on the curvy line towards the left that crosses the painting and leads to the curvy mountains whose outline echo the shape of the path. This painting is essentially dynamic lively and filled with dramatization thanks to the main contrasting effect.Subtle composition of lines hues and tones.
Thought it looked familiar! Beautiful. I love the mountain colours and brush strokes - masterly.
Thank you Alain for an interesting comment and thank you Julian for another beautiful painting.
Alain, I enjoyed your description, too. You have a great talent with the written word. Julian, I was telling my art group about you the other day - I said I had never seen a bad painting from you since viewing your work. As always, I look forward each day to seeing your paintings.
Dear Hans, thank you. I learn nearly each day something about me by commenting, either emotionally or analytically. Because of the mysterious power of Julian works.
