Western reading into question.
If we didn't know the title before,we might think,at first glance, that the focal point are the disheveled bunch of trees and/or the vaporous orange area of the field and even, the hidden house on the extreme left. Now,if we do an horizontal reversal of the picture, suddenly, the big house in bright sunlight becomes the main personage of the painting.

Dear Julian, high, clear spring sky over the mountain. Beautiful cool shadows under the eaves of the sun bleached ochre house. Goes well with the morning café au lait, thanks!

I would love to be on that road and heading for lunch at Crillon le Brave. a favourite place of mine in the area. I find the whole area fascinating with its wondrous light and the houses with blue shutters, some of which seem empty.

Painter’s notes

A little road running from St. Pierre-de-Vassols to Crillon-le-Brave
