Another shift of the objects to the right. So after a quick overall look at the painting, our eyes are inevitably attracted by both the shadow of the apple on the cloth and the subtle pink light between this shadow and the outline in the shade of the apple. Then the eyes go and admire the fruits again and we meditate...These are the consequences of this intentional shift.Metaphysical consequence too:thought about what is tangible(apple) and what is virtual(shadow). The same shift but to the left, and the meaning of this painting would be radically different:just a simple still life.
I have never given it that much thought, I just admired the painting. :)
That had not occured to me but you are quite right. Good observation.
Persistence is a virtue, and I'm glad you kept working. We all have days like that. Nice work, Julian.
YOU INSPIRE ME ,JULIAN.........THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMITTMENT TO EXCELLENCE,EXQUISITE TASTE AND YOUR INSATIABLE QUEST FOR ORIGINALITY OF COMPOSITION........I TOO AM AN ARTIST AND RETURNING TO PAINTIBG AFTER A SHORT HIATUS.......THANK YOU FOR MY LESSON TODAY. PHYLLIS
Way to work through the inherent frustrations of the "wiper", Julian. Persistence paid off beautifully - love the (seemingly) simple composition.
Thank you for your reaction. Since the beginning, when I discovered the art of Julian Merrow Smith,I realized, immediately, that there was more than Beauty in his works. He seems to secretly share with us,behind the charm of his works, his certainties and uncertainties, discreetly and sincerely. His self-portraits are for me an unequivocal illustration of that. The works of Julian makes me discover, almost always, something hidden behind the world of charming appearances, that refers to the human complexity.
I agree with Alain. She expressed my thoughts beautifully. Now I can just relax and enjoy the painting! Every morning, I so look forward to "visiting" with Julian! What a treat, what a talent. Love it.
