A hymn to summer sunshine and deep summer shade. Really evocative of the feel of the season.
The shadow from the tree makes the painting - lovely contrast of light and shade.
I concur about the tree shadow, and I also like the triangular roof in the midst of a lively, non-geometric, natural setting.
A perfect painting.
Yes, I must agree on the foreground shadow, it is fabulous. I just painted a shadow across a road and into grasses. You make it dance, yours is edible. It is not an easy think to do at all. Bravo!
I must add, however, if the only thing working about this painting were the tree shadow in the foreground one's eye would be stopped, and stalled, there. The design, overall, is also strong.
It's gorgeous! Brings back so may wonderful memories of Provence. I wish I could join you there.
