I'll have no chance to eat the cherries, but I might see some cherry paintings! I hope the crop survives and thrives.
The strawberries are lovely and luminous today.

Yumm, on all acounts. Love the light and shadow. And I trust you and Ruth will enjoy the champagne with the strawberries now that the painting is done. As said J. said, great combo. You could always paint an empty bottle....

Strawberries with Champagne.
1 pound strawberries
1 lemon juice
1 packet of vanilla sugar
1 glass of cool Champagne

Cut the strawberries(without the stalks)in two(lenghtways).
Put them in a bowl salad and add lemon juice + vanilla sugar. Stir. Into the fridge 1 hour.
Just before savouring, baste with the cool Champagne and stir again for the last time.

Yum! Thanks for the recipe, Alain!
First time I've heard of vanilla sugar but found a recipe for making that, too. (Split vanilla bean lengthwise, scrape seeds into airtight container that contains 2 cups granulated sugar. Let sit for two weeks-thanks to Alton Brown.)

I love the soft focus in this painting. Thanks Alain and Mary Anne for the recipes. Perhaps in June we will have local berries.

Painter’s notes

A half bottle of Champagne and two Fraise de Carpentras. After a week of beautiful weather it's raining hard. Hope it won't destroy the budding cherries
