When I opened your email this morning my first comment was "ooooh mate!" The colours in the rock face are absolutely beautiful! How I wish I was sitting there watching the waves roll in.
The headland has something human. The rock face: two petrified big legs trying vainly to walk into the water! Even the bit of skyline seems to be attracted by the slope! This scene reminds me of some voluntarily distorted landscapes of Soutine. Pervasive impression of vertigo.
Julian, Your work brightens my every day. I am an aspiring oil painter and I hope this question isn't out of line. It's about your "Borizu Beach". Oh, how glorious. Such sparkle on the water edges. How do you do that? I'm working on a view of a California coastline and that is the very look I cannot capture.
Any wisdom you offer will be much appreciated.
Elinor
