I can feel the chill! I had no idea it could get cold in Venice
What a wonderfully dramatic painting. A view of Venice that I've never seen in paintings or photographs. Thank you so much for doing it. Bravo! I'm always amazed at artists, like yourself who can make a painting of monolithic proportions on such a small scale. I can hardly wait for tomorrow's great work.
Your brushstrokes of the leaden sky and water and the suggestion that the boat is plowing through the waves give dramatic movement to this image. As it is the only boat on the water, you wonder where it is going and why and who is on it. It is a mysterious image that conveys stark image of Venice in contrast to one filled with people.
Raging sea. Roughness of the sea. Brushstrokes running all over the place. Charcoal grey sky heralding a colossal storm and a voice, a hellish voice declaiming :" Dante Alighieri, Dante alighieri..." The church in the background suddenly shines. Spiritual Presence...
i love the immediacy of this one. i can sense the cold and the spray!
Even on a cold and dreary day such as this, Venice is still beautiful and beautifully painted as well. Stay warm.
barbara M, the boat is the mozzarella boat! i kid you not! and it is hurrying to deliver the mozarella to the little shop where we bought that ball of delicious cheese minutes later.
Hey J and R just delurking briefly to distinguish myself amongst other Barbaras!! And because this painting is so delicious, and so strong ...can't buy it but can't let it go past without saying something. Enjoy the rest of your trip ...xx
A mozzarella emergency!
My wife's always having those!
