Dear Julian - I like your individual objects very much--a garlic, a peeled orange, the chunk of cheese. I question I address in my Aesthetic Realism Critical Inquiry class in NYC is: What is the relation of an individual object to the reality outside the object. Is it like our indivicual relation to the world outside us? Some question right? But I think good art depends on the deep answer, the technically shown answer to that question.
