“Today it has been lightly raining so we went for a long walk in the clouds. The colours were wonderfully saturated, the spring flowers and unfurling new growth was was a sight to behold. The roses when we got home were all heads down with the weight of the water, so it felt like a rescue. I put them down in the studio and then decided to paint them as they lay.”

Such soft beauty. Roses are just in bud now, but I love the old varieties.
