“This week has been a rest week, winding down after two intense plain air workshops pretty well back to back. It's nearly a month of teaching and organising and responsibility. Both nine day workshops were fantastic, great groups of people lots of enthusiasm and willing and I had a fantastic time. I had two artists help me this year first a young Israeli whom I met in Italy last year Sam Rachamin, this painting is of the dressing table in his room at le Devencet, the spectacular 14C chateau on the St. Jacques estate. I also invited along the English artist and teacher Paul Foxton who has been a virtual friend for nearly fifteen years (though we have met up three times already this year and our kids get on like a house on fire). Paul paints mostly in the studio but has just put up this piece about his experience en plain air in Provence ! Anyway survived the heat in the studio, couldn't face outdoors again and we had but one peach and one nectarine, subject sorted.”
