“This is one of 40 or so paintings/studies I completed over the last two weeks during the two May workshops we held at La Madelene near Entrechaux. I've put up some of them on the workshop gallery (though we're not up to date on the participant's galleries). Some are demonstrations taking a few brush strokes, some were painted in front of the entire workshop and some snatched moments of privacy (or near) whilst everyone was busy following there own path. You can see the rest here: We've had nearly 120 painters attend the workshopsover the last two years (some complete beginners and some scarily competent)! Many have returned for a second (and even third) time and the whole enterprise has been hugely rewarding and inspiring; a big thank you to all who have attended and helped make it such an enormous success”

Absolutely amazing Julian! Incredible piece.
One of the fundamental choices of a painter in front of a landscape: to bring some details into focus or not to bring other details into focus on the canvas... That is the question!
As usual, your skill at painting shadows always amazes me. What a charming painting!
You really captured the sunlight!
My whole class is in love with your work
I'M IN LOVE WITH YOUR WORK TOO!!! And I would like the poppies one, please! It is absolutely exquisite.
As always a gem of a painting - evocative, sensitive and the path actually looks like that! Thank you (both) for the best 2 workshops ever. I loved all the learning, the location, the lovely people, all that wonderful food and wine.... and this time all that sunshine!
Your demo paintings are an absolute knockout - a huge pleasure to savour. Well done and well done again & again!
What an absolutely lovely painting! You have captured the feeling of sunlight beautifully. it was a joy to see your demo studies too. Happy painting!
Love the looseness and chucked-on paint;
Great talent, from the heart...
The brushwork and light is beautifully captured in this painting Julian!
