Hello Julian,
I just received a copy of your book of early paintings from Provence. I enjoy all of your daily work, but find myself especially cheered by the rough courage of these early works in France. I was at Glasgow School of Art in the '70s, and your work brings back that youthful fresh fun of putting paint to canvas. It is still a thrill. Thank you for sharing, Julian! Keep going!!
Regards, Char
It is so exciting to try and capture a flavour of the changing seasons in paint. I am looking forward to painting some autumnal scenes of Richmond Park as the leaves change colour. Love your work!
All along and just above the luminous highlight of the barbed wire that crosses the painting,we can perceive several human faces smiling, which reminds me of the satyric painter James Ensor...Faces that are celebrating (yet!) the grape-harvest to come and not forgetting the feasts that follow...Red and orange colours strenghten that joyous feeling.
