Living in the city I find your country scenes so relaxing to the mind as if I were right there on the paths you take us on. All of your art shows the seasons changing one after the other and your gift of mixing colors bring it all together to enjoy. Thanks so much for sharing.
In my opinion this is the best of your recent outdoor paintings. Everything has fallen into a quite lovely place here. I don't know what else to say without sounding pretentious. Thanks for letting us see.
Dear Julian,a time of year that, in my opinion(if not too much rain),can be one of the most beautiful, a time of quiet reflection and the savouring of the last of summers bounty.
I feel this landscape is holding it's breath before autumn rolls in! The horizontal shadow cast over the road gives the painting heft and draws the eye from the little cabanon to further down the route. The mood is a scene at the end of the second act,of a summer drawing to a close.
Soon the air will feel crisp, tinged with the scent of damp earth and wood smoke!
Looking forward to the gold, copper and russet of an autumn palette!
Anna.
I do really enjoy your subtle use of composition...
the way you gently lead the eye towards the window on the left..
the shadow darting across the road.
and the three posts or poles leading the eye upwards
all quite unsuspectingly... to be then gently caught in the tree and out back to the path where we all started.
