I did this maneuver one time with a Porcino in Italy...and got a freebie! It was a big one, too. The lady said if it was for art, she couldn't charge me. Viva Italia.
I love this little onion as I love all you paintings. Please tell Ruth to write a sequel to Cherries so we can hear about Louis. Much Love. Namaste, Cody
What a beautiful onion painting you have done! I, myself, have painted onions, but I paint the fallen skins, too. You make things look easy - a true master you are!
What a lovely story... behind the onion, got me thinking about all the stories that must happen while you set out and paint...
the people that you meet that enrich your life and plus you end up with a painting that we all get to enjoy...
Dear Julian,if Rembrandt had painted a still life of a single onion ( which to my knowledge he never did)I dare say he could not have bettered yours! The papery, dry layers of the skin are beautifully captured. The colours glow against the warm dark background.
I'm sure the onion selling lady understood when you picked just the one that was going to be the special one to paint.I wonder if she has any idea how much "her" onion will be worth in some hours from now!
Anna.
