Exquisite and so pleasing to the eye with the placement of the hay bales and lavender fields! How Bob and I wish we could be there right now. We went last April and May and were not able to see the lavender fields. Keep painting

Oh, I love this!

Such pretty colors ...... the sky, the far hill, then the lavender field and finally the golden haystacks. I like the way you draw the eye down to the point just past the tall tree.

Perfect!

Dear Julian, I'm enjoying the summers leitmotif of hay bales and lavender field. Soon it will all be over! That gave me a perfect excuse to locate some genuine Provencal lavender(not lavandin, a cross between two types)on the internet!
And here I am with many little bags right from that fabled region. The scent is pure, fresh, heavenly! Now, all I need is a nice wheat stook.
The hay bales in this lovely painting are a great device to create perspective. And yes, Elaine Culbert, how true that the eye is drawn to just past the tall tree. I wonder why?
Anna.

Painter’s notes

A morning spent painting and then a very long restaurant lunch with family on the official day of la Fête de Lavande
