I am so happy for you and your family, Julian. You are so blessed, and you share your talent and bring great joy to your viewers. This is a beautiful painting.
Julian,
Wonderful painting as always. I enjoy opening your emails each day. Your work is always inspiring and a reminder of how beautiful Europe is. I miss it (I grew up in England but now live in the States). I am thrilled to learn you are going to be teaching next year. I signed up this morning and I am hoping I get a slot. I should be so lucky!!

Julian - I particularily like your landscapes. I used to paint with watercolor, but for the past couple of years I have painted with oils and I love the meaty depth of oils.
It's amazing how those two dawbs of ochre near the central horizontal line are instantly read by my eye as glowing back-lit shrubbery. In my opinion those 2 little splotches bring the rest of the image to life, paintings can be such wonderful mysteries.
So pleased for you and Ruth and Louis, Julian, that's wonderful news, home at last. There's a real joie de vivre in this one which makes me smile too. And I like Jeff's observation above about the yellow ochre, though on my screen it's maybe more of a cadmium yellow :0) Thank you as always for these little e-gifts and I hope one day I can call myself an experienced painter in oils and can come along to a course. Best of luck in your new direction.
Hi Julian , yes this painting and the great news definitely bring a smile. I can relate , a few years ago we had 1473 ltrs. of furnace oil pumped into our basement by mistake. Only in Canada you say!, yes , we were out of our home for over a year.
