Striking pictorial presence of this humble cabanon.I physically feel the coarse rendering.

Jenny

Love the colours in the hills and the old cabin. Yes, beautiful knife work is right. Very special painting.

It may have seen better days, but surely no better rendition. Lovely light - I need my sunnies for this one!

Hi Julian,
It is very interesting that you mentioned the light in Provence, Before I read your commenton the painting, I wanted to mention the fantastic light in your paintings.
Very inviting.

Painter’s notes

These agricultural buildings, dotted all over the landscape, seem so substantial to our eyes—built of stone with solid oak beams holding up roman tiled roofs—but I think little else would stand up to the rigours of the Provençal weather with it's ferocious winds and blasting light. This one has seen better days.
