Are you making the shining, that is, reflecting part of an object larger than usual? The reflection on the apple is not made with a dot or a streak (or "stroke"!) of the brush, but are you, shall we say, smudging it more, perhaps with a finger so that the apple acquires a larger shinyness? I know, the question is not well posed, but I'm in a hurry.
