I like these. Mystery and cozy...makes me want to look more, linger. Brilliant actually.
Like a portrait by Rembrandt.
Three is your lucky number. They're great!
Or Vermeer. They're gorgeous.
you got it this time. the 3D effect is amazing...and those killer greens!
Please could you tell me - What is gessoed card? Do you buy it ready-made? Thank you.
really beautifull...
Julian the apples are spectacular!! May I ask if you use glazing medium??
Thanks all, looks like the weather may change, fingers crossed.
Anita, no I don't just turpentine and sometimes a little sun bleached linseed oil.
What a wonderful difference between the fully realized still life " Roscoff onions and moroccan bowl" compared to the work in progress! Bravo Julian.
Julian--I'm crazy about most everything you do but the apples are always just remarkable. This one, like the others, is overflowing with simplicity and elegance, color and shadow. My Dad always implored us to fill the page and you have done that in such a subtle and masterful way. Don't change a thing. Nice to have you back Alain.
Ah, exquisite I held my breath for a few days Julian, was that 1000 landmark a little unnerving? Yes, welcome back Alain
To say that "you done good" is utterly an understatement! Amazing is more like it. PS - I was at dinner party recently and I was telling my tablemates all about you and your website. A gentleman across from me (an art collector) has one of your paintings (pears). When I asked how he heard about you, he read about you in the NY Times a few years ago. Small world!
Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelicious! Thanks so much Julian
Lovely! Simple, and elegant.
Hi Julian This is spendid! The simplicity of this artfully composed image belies the effort that went into it.
I don't even know what to say anymore! These two secret, shy beauties are simply magnificent.
