Oh how I love that blue tumbler/cup! Cobalt blue is one of my favorite colours. It's so satisfying, somehow. Bleu du ciel? Faudrait-il que le bleu soit comme le ciel qui ait ete nettoye par un mistral! Merci, Julian, de le/la peindre!
Hi Joyce, your monitor will make a big difference to what hue of blue you'll see but the mug is more ultramarine than cobalt (towards red rather than green). Ultramarine?a beautiful word.
You asked about the light and yes the light is coming from the left, the shapes of the shadow/light on the wall are orchestrated by objects on the shelf but out of picture further to the left?all the things that I'm not using in the picture.
Very nice- love the blue and orange.
Ultramarine! It is a lovely word! I actually prefer it in Portuguese: "aguamarinha." I've worn one on my pinkie since I was a child. Enlarged more than once, I hate to admit. And I can tell the difference between a fake and a real one! You're ever the teacher, and I appreciate it. No, I don't like the reddish side of what I've been calling "cobalt." Wish I could see the paint itself!
