Visible and invisible: a forced marriage. How the location and size of the signature even out the slanted composition (mushrooms and the main line built by the light and shadow crossing the table). The direction of the big stalk in full light plus the virtual lines passing from the heads and tips of the two other mushrooms try to carry our eyes towards the location of the signature, a signature as a stellar constellation shining in the darkness. Here, geometrically, all is a matter of virtual tangled lines crossing the surface and creating motion and balance.
Love the depth into the dark, the contrast between light and shadow, the colors, texture and even the movement of paint around the stems - hope the cooked dish was as good as the painting!
Oh, lucky you. The picture is great too.
Truely mouth watering, a great painting.
Hi Julian , the description of the finished product is almost as good as the painting itself. A beautiful piece of work! Thanks Craig PS so good to see your title back on my screen , hope you had a great holiday! A very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Blessed New Year!!
Dear Julian, a gratifyingly dark and earthy painting for January. The placement of the signature is perfect, elegantly piercing the deepest of the shadows. Before I read Julian's comment I had a vision of the mushrooms sautéing in olive oil with garlic and parsley and that is exactly what happened to the Grisettes! But as the funghi belongs to the genus Amanita, expert foraging is essential!! Anna.
Julian, Esta pintura es perfecta. Me encanta toda ella,la composición, las tonalidades tan sobrias,la luz...a propósito,ésta pintura está hecha con luz electrica,no?O es luz natural? Me gustaria saberlo, Julian.
