The pale Peonies you've been painting have such a delicate, translucent look. I'm constantly amazed at the illusions you create with opaque oils.
for me this peony painting is truly beautiful as the curving lines of the vase so much better echo the curves of the flowers... i wish i could grow peonies here in florida. gfs
These flowers like a fabulous creature, incredible pink bird flapping its shimmering wings, enlightening the wall and my eyes and my heart... Phantasmagoria? May be I don't know... But tonight I'm sure, in my dreams, I will fly off with her.
You write like a poet...beautiful
Right on! Look at the reflection in/on the vase. Pretty neat.
ethereal beauties...that is one heck of a reflection. makes us other artist blokes weep with envy!
Thank you bj. Julian's work for me: eye-opening and self-revelation.
Another wonderful painting. I particularly like the fragility of the petals and the reflections in the vase.
Julian, this painting is beautifully balanced. I love it!
I see I was not the first person to notice the reflection. Your brushwork reminds me of John Singer Sargent - you can look at his work up close and say "yeah, rough brush-work," and then step back and "Oh, that's taffeta and that's chiffon and that's velvet!" Same thing going on here.

Such softness and gentle beauty,it truly is beautiful.
