“Here I was drawn to the disappearing edges of the bowl and the simple (nearly monochrome) color scheme of the set-up”

These kinds of studies are among my favorites that you do. I love the deep mystery of the background which seems to softly envelope the subject like night does the landscape. I prefer the richer, deeper palette with strong contrasts that used to be your staple, they have a delicious richness like port wine. Lovely.
Bootiful. I's so much harder to do simple then busy. Really rich, deep and so very Still!
This is very nice - it sort of glows and shows good depth in such a small painting.
I have always been surprised at your use of Lavender on garlic and always appreciate where it appears. I looked closely at this one! Aha!
