What a lovely job you did, Julien! Really admire how you painted that "distressed" shelf with its chipped paint. The bowl looks like a good find and will contrast beautifully with lemons.

Peach season is nearing its end now in Ontario - but apple picking time is now here.

Dear Julian, this is wonderful, I adore everything about this gem, the colours, the textures! As my eye travels over the soft, velvety peach resting on the glazed (perfection!) old bowl sitting on the familiar chipped base, all of it tempered by the sober Chardinesque background, I feel pure joy. This mellow loveliness might be the harbinger of a very creative autumn and beyond. Julian you are a fountain that never runs dry!! Recuperating at home, full of hope, given a second chance.
Anna.

Painter’s notes

A morning (and lunch) spent at l'Isle sur la Sorgue, mostly trawling through the antiques market looking for pots and vases for still lifes — this I thought would look good with winter lemons, but meanwhile it is still peach season
