Dear Julian, it's a mystery how this half hidden,glowing little jewel compelled me to have yet another look at "Old woman frying eggs" by Velazquez. One of my favourite paintings. Although not a still life and painted centuries ago by a Spaniard influenced by Caravaggio, I feel a similar emotional response looking at "Clementine and cup".Very 17th century! Never mind that the clementine didn't exist at that time.

You do "gloss" so well. The gloss on the ceramic, the leaves, the clementine, all perfect.
