I was also a late bloomer....but, ah, nasties, always lovely, especially in a blue cup from a friend. To me, they will always mean California.

It's all about light isn't it? And the light here is lovely.

This was not a good year for nasturtiums at our house. These make up for that and to have them in one of David's pieces makes them doubly special. But perhaps it is the painter's brush which lets them transcend ordinary.
