I love your work Julian.

I do feel the black/dark trunk on tree to the left seems a bit stiff. In my opinion it takes away from the overall loose feeling of painting.
Perhaps tree could have a few lower limbs to soften.

Or perhaps not, it is after all , on the auction block. Oh well, it is lovely painting regardless and I will collect your work in near future. Thanks for beautiful art! Mary

Julian, how do you do it? The tones and colours are so right for summer - I can almost smell the herbs and the dusty road. I can understand Mary's comment, and appreciate her mentioning it as I hadn't noticed it initially. It's interesting how differently we all see things. For me, I'm tending to see the trunk as an anchor which adds an element of balance to the overall softness.

Is this actually an unpaved road?

Whoa! When I saw this painting, I realized how great it was - the composition with the directional line is just terrific. All is just perfect!

Hi Julian This is another one of your mysterious roads that stimulates the imagination. You know what the view is from the top of the hill but I do not. So I will have to think of what I might come into view from the top of the hill. This, of course, will give my brain an excellent work out.

Julian, I love your work, but when this one came in the mail, I was astounded - it shows a real mastery of spacial relationships as well as colour and contrast. I really thought it would go at auction for much more! Sorry but Mary's criticism is utter nonsense in my opinion. This is a wonderful piece, and should be offered as prints as well. Jolly well done!
