I like the lush, almost oily wet look of the asparagus. Very nice job.
Julian, the color of the asparagus is absolutely perfect. How did it look after it was cooked?
Really like the high key paintings you've been doing. Very spring-like. The asparagus does look as though it was so fresh and delicious.
It is wonderful that you enjoy eating the things you paint .
Julian, My wife and I love asparagus (in fact we had it cooked in a wok with pasta) Beautiful job with the richness of the asparagus and the cloth. Just finished a painting based upon a trip to Maine last fall. It's a joy to wake up to your paintings every morning.Randy Mack Bishop
Great minds think alike old chap, even down to the red bands. Have a look: http://richardbarrypaintings.blogspot.com/2010/12/asparagus-bundle.html Good painting Julian - looser than mine - nice and free.
In Toronto we have had a late, heavy snow that is not unusual for this area. This is discouraging because the snow had melted and I hoped for early asparagus like those sprightly green ones in your painting. Thanks for this delightful spring painting.
You're a big man. I'm impressed.
I like to think of it more as liking to paint the things I eat!
I can almost hear the asparagus crunch, the colors are so vivid.
Yes it would be a bit strange to eat the things you paint . But some of the things you paint do look good enough to eat , especially this lovely bunch of asparagus .
