Okay...mmmm...9:17:33 a.m. looking SSW. My final answer. I am intrigued by the slight whitish line in the heart of the shadow cast by the chimney. Seems this gives the shadow some breathing room, as it were, so that we can see and know that the blue sky is reflecting even into the darkest shadows. Is there a metaphor for life hidden in your paintings, Julian? Indeed there is. No wait...8:43:21 a.m. looking SSE...Where's P S Mahendra when we need her/him?
I absolutely love the way you capture light in your paintings. I can actually FEEL the light. Gorgeous!
Hi Julian I am intrigued by the style in this painting. The vines and ground in the foreground are depicited with strong brushstrokes; the hill and sky in the background are also created by brushstrokes that are less obvious, as is appropriate rendering distance. However, the building is shape and light; thus our eye is drawn to it. Who lives there, I wondered? Or is it an outbuilding of some kind.
great landscapes!
Bravo pour restituer si subtilement la splendide lumière des vignes éclatantes en ce moment, pour quelques jours encore..., et bises à Ruth.
I gasped for joy at this painting! Love it!
