These are the famous 'Figues de Caromb', and they were painted on the day of 'fête des figues' at Caromb. When I bought them the seller at the little artisanal market explained that there would be a huge street party in which all sorts of recipes revolving around the fig including fig couscous would be prepared by the local restaurants. Unfortunately it rained all day.
