The peonies are amazing. They are my very favorite flowers. I think I must now quit painting because I will never, ever, ever be able to do anything as gorgeous as these.

the peonies are simply wonderful...funny, i've been in the flower painting mood the past month, and you seem to paint them with ease and grace...i have gotten it a few times, and lost it! provence looks as though it is in full bloom, and i'm so fortunate to be arriving late may. saignon to paint for three weeks...perhaps i'll run into you into somewhere on the side of the road or midst some lavender...enjoy the spring and thank you for this most beautiful painting

Hi Julian This painting is heavenly. In my phtography, I don't get close enough to my subjects. Here the value of doing that is shown by your attention to details in the colours of the peonies. The luminosity of the peonies illustrates your mastery of light. I learn so much from your daily painitings that 'lighten' my day. Thank you!
I can smell them just by looking, and can also imagine the ants crawling on the buds to open them! Beautiful.
And I second the note to Dona--don't give up. Getting the right touch even occasionally is rewarding.
