I am so happy for you and your family, Julian. You are so blessed, and you share your talent and bring great joy to your viewers. This is a beautiful painting.
Julian, Wonderful painting as always. I enjoy opening your emails each day. Your work is always inspiring and a reminder of how beautiful Europe is. I miss it (I grew up in England but now live in the States). I am thrilled to learn you are going to be teaching next year. I signed up this morning and I am hoping I get a slot. I should be so lucky!! Jane from Pinehurst, NC
Julian - I particularily like your landscapes. I used to paint with watercolor, but for the past couple of years I have painted with oils and I love the meaty depth of oils.
It's amazing how those two dawbs of ochre near the central horizontal line are instantly read by my eye as glowing back-lit shrubbery. In my opinion those 2 little splotches bring the rest of the image to life, paintings can be such wonderful mysteries.
Hi Julian, Welcome Home. Martine
What a peaceful place, lovely!
There is fire in this picture!
So pleased for you and Ruth and Louis, Julian, that's wonderful news, home at last. There's a real joie de vivre in this one which makes me smile too. And I like Jeff's observation above about the yellow ochre, though on my screen it's maybe more of a cadmium yellow :0) Thank you as always for these little e-gifts and I hope one day I can call myself an experienced painter in oils and can come along to a course. Best of luck in your new direction.
Hi Julian , yes this painting and the great news definitely bring a smile. I can relate , a few years ago we had 1473 ltrs. of furnace oil pumped into our basement by mistake. Only in Canada you say!, yes , we were out of our home for over a year.
ouch!
