The Spirit of Turner is everywhere...The onion glows as if a landscape of Turner was shining brightly inside. And the papery stem like a winding flame silently is burning in front of the Dark Portal...
You take even the simplest of objects and raise them to a thing of beauty and importance. Brilliant. Thank You. Pat
Hi Julian, I am going to be in Provence from Sept. 19 to Sept. 23. Do you have a gallery of your larger paintings in Provence? Do you ever sell larger paintings in Bedoin? I'm the one who is great friend with Sarah Lamb. We'll be staying in her mother's place in Nice before heading up your way. I don't want to bother you, etc. but would love to see your work in person. Thanks so much Julian. Respectfully yours, Ann Lindsay Atlanta, GA
So seemingly simple, eloquent and gorgeous!
Isn't it amazing how handsome a lowly onion can be? Have you seen the pastel of onions by Renoir, which hangs in the Clark Gallery in Williamstown, MA? It is a knock-out, very atypical of Renoir, which is a good thing in my book! I keep a framed postcard of it in my kitchen and have to replace it periodically with a fresh one. I was visiting a fellow painter the other day and saw that she had it, framed, also. So do Google it if you can.
You are so clever, Julian. We know exactly how hard that onion is because you see colour so well and can put the paint exactly where is has to go! Your paintings always brighten my day. Thank you.
Beauty!
Julian, that touch of purple and grey on the onion gets it for me. It is really nice.
Your paintings always give me such pleasure - but this one really made me gasp -'simply beautiful'!
