Impressive sense of the movement as if we were in-car in the opposite direction! One of the oxes besides, peering at the painter,is wondering: what's this man doing with his brushes and easel, perched, like a bird of Paradise,on his car?
Julian, I have been enthralled with your paintings of Bali and how you so simply and deftly capture what you see. A marked difference in colours from Provence and yet regardless of where you are or what you paint, you have the inherent ability to capture the essence of your subject, the mood and movement. Upon a single glimpse of your brush strokes, all my senses are effected. It is magical, a physical response ...
As Alain says, there's a wonderful sense of movement here... tremendous effort is also somehow communicated through your brushstrokes.
There is a lot of tension in this painting. The strain of the water buffalo, the diagonals of the sky and the trees. Its loose but yet tight. You really cut let go on this one.
DYNAMIC!!!!
