Exquisite! You remind me that I don't have to pick perfect fruit to paint.
Like players on a stage, one pear looks so victorious and proud, the other quite wounded and fallen. Well, bravo for them both!
I love your exploration of the color range in the red William pear. It's quite beautiful and subtle.
I also like, as Frances pointed out, that your pears are not perfect. And that in its own way, its flaw is also beautiful.
Perhaps those glorious Red Williams pears - one fallen and the other victorious - are allegorical. England is certainly doing well in Adelaide. On the meteorological front, we are enjoying blue skies and 31C in Melbourne today.
I've been following your blog for about a year now and I really love the glow all your still life have. I'm a begging painter and of all the blogs that I subscribe to your blog is my favorite. I'd love to see a demonstration of your approach. Do you have any videos on youtube? Either way, I look forward to your paintings every day.
Best,
Greg

Nice wintery middle-of-the-night thing going on lately, Jules - dark and quiet and solitary but never lonely. x
Stunning! You just keep getting better and better!
Even if the pears are not perfect that painting is!
Julian,
