I don't know what you mean by "today's petrol money is a very nice bottle of Côte-Rôtie" Maybe it's some French lingo?

Beautiful painting! And just what size brushes do you use?

Umm,umm good. It's a windy, rainy day here, and that makes this piece even more pleasing. Thanks.

In the long and winding calvacade of pear paintings, I do believe I love this pear the best. Maybe it's the brave tilt of the stem or perhaps the pink blush in the warm orange.
It's just a beautiful pear.

Julian, when I opened this up I literally gasped. The colors, the composition, the textures.....I simply love your still lifes and this is one of the best. I am also wondering about the "petrol money" and bottle of wine.

Well Ruth gets paid, but her student (who makes rather good wine) like's to cover the cost of her 'trajet'- the cost of driving over to Gigondas and back, in wine. It always seems a rather nice thing to to get back in wine what you've expended in petrol/essence/gas. Imagine invading Iraq to protect the worlds wine supplies.

Dear Julian,
Lovonne, my daughter lives in Menerbe and I do so enjoy your little cameos. I visited her a couple of years ago in her little bit of Heaven. Love your country roads scenes best of all, and your cherries and lavender, just everything!!!
Warm wishes

superb!

Well in this little patch of Bucks it is finally catching up with the rest of Britain and is pouring snow. So when I opened this up I thought of all of the above. There is something very intimate and cocooned about the atmosphere. Love it. To me it is inspiration.

...And I am touched by the love affair, certainly as bright as the red pear,of the couple of blue birds.

Excellent painting, Julian! Exhibits mastery of paint manipulation.

Stately, and more dramatic light!

Brilliant!

Mystery solved! I like that kind of bartering...

Absolutely awesome Julian, keep up the fabulous work, wishing you and your family a very merry Christmas and safe New Year. regards Ruth

Julian you are the man, love your stuff keep up the good work. all the best for 2011 to you and yours from the snowy fields of north shropshire.
