I have been so taken by your recent paint brush, and the dark landscapes, but this is so exuberant. I love those Opposites in art as I have studied them in Aesthetic Realism, and I think Heaviness and Lightness as one are so descriptive of that wonderful tissue paper and the three heavy donuts next to that brightly colored and heavy orange. I really like this--that winged paper rising and the weight of the white donuts just makes one joyous so unexpectedly. Thank you. DK
Now we have another beautiful wrapping; the first was the silvery foil on the butter. There is an artful contrast in this painting in colour: Silvery white (paper, figs), orange (clementine, paper) and blue green, a colour we've seen in recent paintings; you have done the same with texture: The rough paper contrasts with the smooth surfaces of the orange, figs and container. Thanks Julian for this festive image.
What a festive message you have given us, both visually and verbally!
I can imagine your homecoming with your market finds and the good feeling of settling in to paint them!

Beautiful job on the wrapping paper!
You must enjoy every minute of your work...even the struggles. It shows!

Wonderful, Julian!
Love how the carefully selected lights move the eye against the dark background!
