Don't go anywhere, Julian! I truly enjoy your Venice/Paris cityscapes. This is yet another one that I don't find words to describe other than gorgeous. I love love love your looseness with everything in this one. What an awesome painting! *sigh*
Here I feel the artist who opens his heart. With nothing on.
More than a postcard,a private letter, addressed to his community of fans.
Free brushstrokes, making mysterious signs;nearly an automatic writing.
Unposed.fragile.Unsteady.
An artist,in haste, who shows evidence of a world, which could be not to be.
It amazes me that the minute you go somewhere different, trying something new, people are critical! Go for it, Julian, I hope you enjoy every minute in Venice. I like both of these quick, free paintings.
To me this conveys the mysteriousness of Venice on a foggy day. The water, the workboats, (that fascinated me on my stay there last spring) all wonderfully lively.
Thank you, Julian- and DO STAY in Venice. I also look forward to your cityscapes and any other landscapes you capture for our delight.

Stop! Stop! Flee Venice and go back home to paint those exquisite still lifes and paysages! You are just superb at those!

Not quite up to your usual very high standard.
