I am a big fan of your paintings and this one is beautiful. I look forward to daily dose of happiness in your small paintings. Thanks.
If these were numbers I might suggest Johns. I just came from the Phillips Collection Timeline to check my email and here you were with this splendid articulation. Again, you stopped me in my tracks. This might be one of my favorites. You know I like your ground. This is monumental, luscious, vibrant and still contained in the most arrestingly beautiful of tones. You set the bar high, Julien. Bravo. All best, Jan
Ah, how appropriate! I am making a red sauce right now for dinner tonight. Good bottle of Chianti, a salad and bread, mmmm.....your painting is just the appetizer I needed, Julian! Peace-C.
Julian I like those garlic cloves in motion;the brownish colors make them seem serious too. Opposites in play always are exciting.
Thanks everyone for your comments. Hope the meal turned out well Carolyn, (I had sardines on toast). Janice, don't think I've had my work likened to Johns since art school !
I hope you took that as a compliment. The work is undeniably yours. But this one took me straight to my experience of Johns and Twombly in Houston at the De Menil. Being able to set that power in motion on a small gesso card...hats off, brilliant. JC
Absolutely Janice thanks, it's quite a compliment.
