Julian, I can feel the breeze and smell the salty air. I love the dappled sunlight. Thankyou for adding so much beauty to my day.
The intensity of both the sunlight and the shade is wonderful. It transports me out of my office.
My gosh, Julian, you've have had a spectacular run lately--the landscapes have been really beautiful in color and composition and the still life fruit has been practically edible. I haven't had time to comment, but I just had to take the time after seeing the grapes on today's (sept 12) picture, which isn't even open yet for comments. Anyway, the paintings are a delight even when I don't have time to look as carefully as I would like.
Jennifer, we are actually a long way from the coast in this picture so any salty air is probably from my top lip! The blue horizon is the Rhone Valley on a day when the atmosphere is more visible than the days of Mistral - the effect of the Mistral is to make everything seem equally near, it's only the size of objects that enables your brain to read them as distant. Fern, glad to be able to bring a little fresh air and sunshine. Susan, thanks, means a great deal that you found time to write that. I keep trying, the grapes is painting no. 701 so you can't say I havn't been practising.
This path. It pulls me along. Dapples. Thanks so much. I just got the grapes.(Sept 12th ) had a moment to pause. Now back to my paint. Julien. I love your work. All best, Jan
Julian your landscapes are outstanding evocative little treasures Thanks Michael
Sea or No Sea- it's very nice. Love the dappled light and the color of the shadows.
