All that is worth anything in life comes down to these three things: Head, Heart & Hand. Sure we can debate the respective qualities of impressionism, fauvism, tonalism, and all the other isms. For me, it's a lot simpler than that. Yesterday's painting was great. The paintings before that were great. This one is great. My Head can make the academic distinctions, but my Heart says there's no great departure in style from Julian's Hand here. I just calls 'em like I sees 'em: great, great, great!
